| The Circle of Life Explore by comparison and contrast the life cycles of reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and bugs. I’m Gonna Be Like You, Dad! Look at the way animals resemble their parents in physical appearances and explore the world of heredity in this fun class of generational exploration. Come to Your Senses Examine your five senses of sight, taste, smell, touch, and hearing and see which of these you share with our friends the mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and bugs. The answers may surprise you! Habitat Detectives Discover what makes a habitat and what a habitat must provide for living animals including food, water, shelter, and living space. Examine different habitats to see what belongs and what doesn’t. YOU Decide, YOU Describe! Learn how scientists divide and classify different things into kingdoms, families, and classes. Become an expert at how to describe animals like scientists discovering new species in the depths of the jungles. Adaptation Advantage Learn how animals adapt to their environment over time to survive, including changes in heat and cold, different instinctive and learned behaviors, and how they change their environment to suit their needs. Reptiles Wild Explore the world of today’s most misunderstood animals. Meet snakes, lizards, skinks, and many more up close and personal and see their fascinating life cycle, how they grow and live, and the role they play in the natural world. Amphibian Action Frogs and salamanders and toads, Oh my! Take a close look at the fascinating world of amphibians and see what they tell about your world’s health. Explore the variety of amphibians in the local environment, examine the role they play in nature, and see what they have in common with reptiles and mammals. Small and Furry to Big and Hairy – Mammals of the World Everybody loves the small and furry world of guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats and hedgehogs, but there are many more mammals than the small and furry ones. Examine one of the largest groups of animals alive today, see what makes a mammal, and explore how mammals live, how they have adapted to live in almost any environment, and be amazed at the role they play in the natural world. What’s the scoop on poop? Explore animals by what comes out the other side. Learn to identify animals and what they eat by their droppings, and learn how they mark their territory with their scat. Poop has never been so much fun! Motion Commotion Can you slither like a snake? Move like a monitor lizard? Amble like an alligator? Run like a rodent? Leap like a lemur? Take a close look at how animals move and how their locomotion is an adaptation to their environment. You’ll discover that there are many ways to move and all of them help animals survive. Backyard Kingdom Explore local wildlife and learn what you can find under rocks and in the grass of your own yard. Frogs, snakes, salamanders, and bugs are plentiful in New England yards and fun to find. Become an expert in all the living things in your own neighborhood. Bug Me Come see why bugs rule the world in this close up look at the smaller world. Learn the difference between insects like ants, butterflies, and beetles, and arachnids like spiders, scorpions and ticks; learn what makes a centipede different from a millipede. After this class you’ll learn who really runs the world! Predator Prey Play a part in the game of survival when you examine the relationship between predators and prey. Practice your adaptations to survive against those who want to eat you, and learn how they adapt to your cunning. In predator prey survival is the name of the game. Snake Wranglers Practice your skills as a snake wrangler against snakes small and large. Learn how to identify snakes and practice their safe handling techniques using the tools of the trade. Nature’s Engineers Build like beavers, tunnel like ground squirrels, change the world to suit your survival needs! In this class you’ll examine how animals change the environment to suit their needs to survive. A-maze-ing! Ever feel like a rat in a maze trying to find the cheese at the end? In this class you’ll build mazes and test the intelligence of your furry friends. Learn what makes an animal intelligent and how they use it to their advantage. You’ll never look at a maze the same way again. What a Croc! Ever wonder what’s the difference between an alligator and crocodile? Curious about Caimen? Learn all about the animals called crocodilians and impress your friends with your croc facts. Turtle Hurdles How many different kinds of turtles can you identify? Come take a close look at an animal that has been around as long as the dinosaurs, is always at home no matter where it goes, and lives longer than any other animal. Half Day $185/week |
